I have a question: do you root Ariocarpus scions once you degraft them from Pereskiopsis, or do you re-graft them on more permanent rootstock? I have never grafted any Ariocarpus species and I wonder if the Pereskiopsis grows deeply into them like it tends to do on some other scions?

I root all degrafted Ariocarpus scions. I have never re-grafted them onto parmanent stocks.

In my place, Pereskiopsis stocks lose all leaves in 2nd winter and I can not expect a good growing speed any more and so I degraft all scions in following spring. Since almost all Ariocarpus scions reach to flowering size at that time, re-grafting is not nacessary.

One scion, ariocarpus fissuratus cv godzilla was in flower in the afternoon.

10 out of 24 scions, Ariocarpus fissuratus cv Godzilla were in flower yesterday. The photo is one of them.
