Setiechinopsis mirabilis.
They are very short-lived for a cactus, only last for few years.
Nocturnal flower.
Good thing is that they are self-fertile, so you will always get a lots of seeds.

Re: Odd colored cactus in bloom
As Bryan says they are comparatively short lived = 5-8 years in many cases but are self fertile and set true seeds without needing pollination. As said they are also nocturnal flowering so its often best to bring it in the the house when in full bud or you may miss it and the flower be dead the next morning.
Therefore it's best to occasionally set a few seeds to have replacements coning along. Not all cacti are long lived, but usually those that have a short life cycle propagate freely from seed in habitat.

Wow, fascinating stuff. Thanks Dave and Bryan, appreciate the information and the identification. Was having a difficult time tracking down an ID for this one.

Such a beauty you have there. Congrats for those precious flowers too.
Re: Odd colored cactus in bloom
Can someone tell me how they die?
Do they just shrivel up or do they start rotting or what?

Re: Odd colored cactus in bloom
Just seem to lose vigour and deteriorate. Some manage to keep them going longer than others.
