Different frankencacti growing up

Post by Antaviana »

I did several cross-pollination last spring-summer, and succeeded in most of them - the only one without germination was the weird mix between G. baldianum and Eryosice napina.

These are some of the seedlings growing up:

Two months old seedlings of G. Mihanovichii - white x pink flowers

I keep them over a heating mat at 20ºC-68ºF minimum. I hope that some of them will keep growing up.

Best wishes and Happy Holidays!

Interesting.
I have crossed Gymnocalycium occultum with Gymnocalycium bodenbenderianum.
Looks like it worked.
But when using one of the species as the female plant it gave better results than when using the other species. I dont recall exactly but lets say occultum as female gave me 12 seedling while bodenbenderianum as the female plant gave me only one seedling. Not sure if it is a genetic effect or just by chance.
Please keep us updated!
