Some of my woodfired ceramics

Post by EliWhitney3140 »

Hello everyone, I have been lucky to fire in an Anagama kiln two times and going on my third here soon. I figured I would share some of my work. I am going to post my Instagram first but will put some in the post for people who don't use it.

Very nice. Are some of them suitable for plants? IE, do they have drainage holes?

Hehehe, thought I might be the only one to wonder this! They'd be spectacular containers for some specimens. Very striking, and they remind me of a gentleman in Florida that works in containers like this with his cacti--East Coast Camanchaca.

Very nice work there! =D>

Oh thank you both, I appreciate your kind words. To be honest it's very hard for me not to put a drainage hole in everything I make, haha. So most of my pieces would be great vessels for cactus. Cacti and Bonsai were actually a big influence on me starting to make ceramics.

One of my favorite Artists is Jonathan Cross. He makes great work.

Thanks for sharing, Those are very beautiful. I like the natural, stone-like colors and textures.

Eli, I guess you must sell these. For those that may be interested, how do you sell them?

Incredible!
I like the sober use of colors and glazings. Especially the red ones. Very distinctive. It's so easy to go all out with those things. I presume the pots in the pictures are but a small fraction of what you made?
If it not were for high shipping costs and import duties I would love to buy one. For sure if you put it on Etsy or Instagram, you will find buyers asap.

Thank you all again for the kind words. Jerry I do sell my pieces, most of my sales are through a Gallery in Seattle called HouseWright. They are pretty low on my work right now though, I am working on a lot of pieces but I have to wait until we fire the Anagama again. Hopefully we should be firing next month. I would definitely sell my work through Instagram or just by messaging me here on the site.

I'd be interested to know what you mean by wood firing. And how it is different from say an electric kiln.

My son is stationed at JBLM and we get out there from time to time. Our granddaughter is out there too! Another draw.
