Help with id

Post by Mireno78 »

Hi everyone!I live in the Miami Dade area of Florida and there is just a few nurseries that sell cactus and succulents .I think they have a great selection being a tropical area but unfortunately they don’t provide any IDs for the plants so most of my cactus are without id or just the easy ones to identify have some…I been posting a few pictures and so far have been working so thanks again and here I go with a few plants😁

The first is a young Saguaro, Carnegiea gigantea. The second looks to me like Weingartia mentosa (=Sulcorebutia mentosa), but I am not 100% sure. Three is an Opuntia, but that is as much as I can tell :).

The first one resembling saguaro, for the second one - could be Rebutia mentosa. I have the same Opuntia as on the last image, but never new its species, also curious to know

Hey Mireno, my wife and I are flying down to Pompano in a few weeks to visit our daughter and family. Would you mind sharing the name and address of the nurseries you've found?

We (or I) are hoping to visit Fairchild Botanic Gardens. I've been told they have excellent displays of Madagascar succulents.

I have purchased some Madagascar Euphorbias from Paradise Found Nursery in Sarasota. I've been very pleased with them. https://www.paradisefoundnursery.com/

Thanks for the names Mireno. Its a big start. My daughter and I went to a nursery right on the edge of the Everglades once. I don't recall cacti, but we were looking for orchids. She grows them outdoors on the tree and fence.

Hi Mireno

Just looked at JM Nursery's website: https://jmnursery.business.site/
16601 Southwest 184th Street Miami, FL 33187 Open 7:30-4:30 PM Mon-Sat. Sundays are out for me.

The website says Wholesale Plant Nursery. But it looks like they do have retail sales. Yes? No?
