3 New Unknown cactus
3 New Unknown cactus
Some new plants with no names
I'm pretty sure I used to know what Rebutia this is,
But my member-berries aren't giving it up this year
We met someone that had a pile of this small Opuntia in his front yard
He gave us a cutting
It has an intensely vivid scarlet flower
People give us plants all the time as either gifts or as hospital patients to be nurtured back to life
I thought this was a lophophora at first, it was very swiveled and needed new roots
Now I'm not sure what the hell it is, it's got a shinny skin unlike Lophophoras
and the new buds definitely look odd Once the flowers bloom, it might too easy to ID

Re: 3 New Unknown cactus
That Opuntioid looks like Tephrocactus verschaffeltii, previously placed in Austrocylindropuntia and Opuntia before that.
Pretty sure that last one is one of the Japanese Astrophytum cultivars, Astrophytum asterias 'Kikko Nudum'. Don't recall seeing such fleshy leaves on an Astro bud though.

Bingo!!!
Thanks all
An Astrophytum that's not ribbed ??
Photo from the internets after a Google search of Aylostera aff fiebrigii
I don't think it was it, but saw a photo of Rebutia donaldiana
which it could be, which is a subspecies of fiebrigii
still not sure, mine has less spines

Re: 3 New Unknown cactus
I think 3rd Photo is a kikko kabuto but it is not a normal nudum form.
The cactus shows 3 characters.
1. kikko (tortoies-shell) form
2. lapis lazuli body colour
3. large areoles
There is an asterias cultivar called "Oibo ruri kabuto" which has large areoles with lapis lazuli body colour.
The shape of areoles on the photo are very similar to Oibo ruri kabuto.
The asterias on the photo is a kikko form of Oibo ruri kabuto which is very special.
There is similar one in Lophphora which is called "Ibo ginnkan" which is a form of fricii but the shape of areoles are difference.
I have a grafted normal kikko nudum form. Please compare the body colurs. The photo is attached for your information.

Incredible what those nurseries breed.
Do the names point to Japan?
