Rust color on Peanut Cactus. Any ideas?

Rookie here. I purchased this cactus three months ago and am noticing a good bit of rust coloration. Distribution is all the way around. Any ideas about what this might be? Thanks!

Usual color in case of red mite damage.

It could also be a rust fungus. You may want to treat your cactus for both, to be on a safe side.
