Hi darryl,
I buried alot of pots at first so I could get a better idea what they would actualy look planted.
Some were left in pots up to a year.
You will have to be careful watering as the pot wont drain quickly unless you add alot of gravel to the bottom of the hole.
This way they can be easily moved if they do work for you and if you decide you like them there, your hole is ready to go :)

DG is Decomposed granite :)
Forget the dog...Beware of the plants!!!

Thanks Tony.

I actually have a few dug in like that....to keep them from falling over!

ahhh decomposed granite. thanks.
wait a sec...isn't granite a rock?

EDIT: well, this is news to me. Learn something new everyday :D
If you have never heard of decomposed granite before, here is a short explanation. The color of decomposed granite is reddish-brown. It begins in the form of granite rock and then decomposes into a smaller form or gravel. This form of gravel contains high levels of trace minerals. It can be made in many different sizes and is purely safe for the environment.

I can vouch for using granite. Chicken Grit (crushed cherry granite) is one of the key ingredients in my cactus soil mix
