This is a Notocactus... that much I was sure of...
I wasn't know what species, though I thought N. horstii, so I wait for a flower.
This is the first flower for this beauty...

Can you believe the colour? it's much more brilliant than what I remember of N. horstii.

Anyone care to confirm it's id?

Yesterday, I was a bit overcast so it didn't quite open...

Today there was nothing stopping it.

I never saw a flower of this color on a horstii. It is really beautiful.

Well CP compare with the one I saw flowering at the huntington:

I see different sized petals. CPs plant has thinner petals than Daiv's pic from the HBG. I don't see a stigma in Daiv's pic tho.

I don't have a guess, but i can agree it is a Noto/Parodia for sure ;)

Awesome plant/flower tho CP!

Wow, I can see why you'd be in love. Thats a stunning beauty if ever I saw one.

If I lived closer I believe I'd be tempted to lure your new love away from you

An extrodinary beauty CP.

Hi CP :D

For those like me who are a little less than thrilled with the standard yellow Parodia flower, that one sure is refreshing!

Thanks folke I'm glad you share my joy with this pretty little plant, Thanks also daiv for the link to your pics, I'd already checked those out, mine is somewhere in between the pink and the orange. I believe Noto meuglianus is a possible candidate too (which I think is also now synonymous with Parodia (Noto). horstii.
