Vajaho's greenhouse

Post by Vajaho »

Hi,

Image

Here is my greenhouse with one box of cacti out of two. The other contains mainly small ones, therefor no photo yet. It's full of sunshine, sometimes I think some shading would be needed... Upper window opens automatically at 25 C, even today, it opened. Sometimes, in Summer temperature climbs up to 38 C, even if I keep the door open all day. Autumn picture no flowers, poor Stapelia variegata dried out  ... But check out the red fruits of M. prolifera  .

Very attractive display. You get a little desert right there at home!

Now I'm curious do you have those planted in sand all together or are they potted and just covered with sand for looks?
All Cacti are succulents, but not all succulents are Cacti

Daiv, It is a semidetached greenhouse, so I can step in directly from the house, so from the house right to the desert. When there is -20 C outside, I can sunbath besides the cacti. I like this very much. Cacti are in pots covered with sand. It is a lot of sand as the box is much deeper than the pots. Therefor the climate is extremely dry, the sand sucks the moisture in.
