Color change

Post by davidg »

My cactus is actually a euphorbia. It has gone from dark green to pale green. What's the cause and treatment?

I'd venture to guess inadequate sunlight. Has the plant also gotten long, thin and gangly?

Its in a sunny window where other ones doing well. No change other than the pale color and no growth. Perhaps the soil is depleated?

Where are you located?

It may be in it's dormancy state and could just be from the low winter temps in combination with the weak winter (and shorter) light.

How long has it been in the pot? It's possible, but usually takes a year or more for the soil to lose it's nutrients.

Hmm. A Euphorbia in a pot... how long has it been there? That is important. One possibility is that over time the soil can become very hard/dried out and water won't penetrate. So you could water it more often than you think it needs and yet the plant doesn't get any water. In these situations the water usually drains down the side between the soil and the pot. In this case a repotting would help.
