Help ID this ugly cactus please

Post by eduart »

Does anyone know what kind of cactus this ugly thing might be? Unfortunately I don't have pics of it flowering, but I can tell you that it has beautiful yellow flowers with a dark red centre, ca. 3.5 - 4.0 cm high and 5.5 - 6.0 cm wide. I suspect it could be an Eriosyce of some kind, but It's really just a wild guess; I have just little knowledge about this genus.

N.B. Hope this link will work, I couldn't figure it out how to do.

It took me some time, but I think I've got it...

It's Parodia mammulosa ssp. submammulosa, (Lemaire) A. Hofacker 1998

Synonyms :

Notocactus mammulosus v. pampeanus
Notocactus submammulosus v. pampeanus
Notocactus submammulosus

I think I'd agree with eduart on the ID. :)

the succulent you currently have in your unknown folder is a euphorbia, possibly euphorbia flanaganii.

there are a couple others that look somewhat similar, but i can't think of their names right now.
