Acanthocereus tetragonus. Flowers only at night.

Hey those are spectacular! Is that your own plant? Really unique flower shape on those.

So thats what a normal 'Fairy Castles' looks like...awesome flower!

Never see the specie, too bad the cv. does't bloom like that!!
(assuming of course, Fairy Castles is actually a monstrose of A. tetragonus)

Darryl, I don't think that is the case. I struggled with this early on and I think the "Fairy Castles" is closer to the Cereus group that C. peruvianus is derived from like C. jamacaru, C. hildemannianus, etc.

A. tetragonus, while called C. tetragonus at some point is totally different. :?

Hey daiv. yes, this is my plant. these are somewhat common here, and they grow like crazy; cuttings take and grow quickly. BTW, the flower itself only lasts just one night.

i can get you some horridus and tetragonus seed photos next time i setup the microscope.

i also got a ton of some kind of Acanthocereus (we discussed it in the ID section). if someone can id it, i can get some more better quality pics up.

legolas29, that is a heck of a photo!!!! very nice flowers!
