Unidentified pink-fruited cactus

Post by BobHargraveUSA »

We have something here in SW Florida that looks similar to pitahaya, night blooming cereus and dragon fruit. Any ideas or positive identifications?
Thanks,
Bob

Red fruited cacti

Hi Bob,

Not too sure about your plant but it looks like one of the Epiphyllum's to me (not too sure which one, as there are lots of hybrids about). The night blooming Cereus does not have flat leaves, but the Epiphyllum genus do.

Cheers, John

Disocactus is another possible candidate although I haven't seen very many images of that genera with the exception of D. flagelliformis which is everywhere. These are also included in Epi. hybrids.
