Hello from Ireland

Post by conaire »

New to your forum and fairly new to succulent cultivation.I've been at it five years. I have a fairly large collection to take care of.There are quite a few anonymous Echeverias that I'd like to identify.I'd welcome any assistance any members could give me.
I'd also be interested to know if it is difficult to obtain Hoodia seed of any species.I had a couple of unthrifty specimens that died last year without flowering.I believe it's a tricky genus to grow. Also some of the Parodia and Rebutia rarely flower.Would it be alright to sprinkle some potash around the base of them?
I checked out some of the other members plant photos and they really looked impressive. They're something for me to aspire to
Thank you
Conaire.

Hi- I still have relatives I've never met in Cork. I wonder if any of them are into cacti? :-)

Perhaps cooler conditions for Parodia and Rebutia are needed over the winters? Fertilizer that's low in nitrogen but higher in P and K seems to help my plants flower, too.

welcome!
