I see they included the enormous fire we just had in my area. That was just a few miles from my house. I went to the fire area today and took some pics of toasted Opuntias and Dudleyas. I may post them in a different thread later since I don't want to hijack this one.

yeah they had returns from the smoke from the fire around where you lived. I also have seen them show the doppler radar (sorta like the one with the bugs in it) for the fire smoke and you could see some interesting things..

Here's one from right this very minute, mind you there's no rain about. All 3 streaks in the radar return are from fires.

Arrows indicate wind direction and the numbers next to them is temperature in celcius (red), windspeed in km/h(blue) and rainfall (green). I'm right at the arrow just left of the image center indicating 32C and 44km/h winds, the whole horizon facing north is just a solid mass of smoke.

He dropped out of sight here around September I believe.
He still shows up regularly on the Opuntiads FB page though.
