What did I buy today?

Post by fanaticactus »

I saw this and recognized that I don't have one in my collection and it looks as if it has a healthy start. What is it?--if indeed it can be ID'd at this early stage. I'm not sure if it's two cacti in one pot; haven't unpotted it yet to give it better growing medium, but the two branches each have seven ribs. By the way the tips seem to be beginning to bend, I thought it might be one of those cacti that eventually grows downward and would be better in a hanging pot.

I took it out of its pot today in preparation for giving it better soil and a new pot and found that this is one cactus with two branches. Still don't know what it is.

I might be wrong but possibly echinopsis/trichocereus peruviana, I would wait for Dan (CactusFanDan) to comment on it, he usually know his species pretty well.
And as the walls come down and as I look in your eyes
My fear begins to fade recalling all of the times
I have died and will die.
It's all right.
I dont mind
I dont mind.

Hard to tell the size from your photo but it reminds me of an unlabeled Echinopsis I have. Branches like that & has been a good bloomer. Sue

Sue, your plant looks like echinocereus scheeri.
Dave's plant looks like it could be the same, or something along those lines, But I'd wait for flowers.

Sorry, guys! Suddenly all my notifications started being somehow classified as "spam". This is a mystery. I just discovered it. Thanks for the possible IDs. I'll wait for a flower--probably until next year.
