Plant and bird trip to Bolivia -- March 2008

Post by gcorman »

Hi all,

I'm organizing a plant and bird trip to Bolivia for March 2008. Bolivia is safe, amazingly beautiful and diverse, and little explored. This trip will cover a wide variety of habitats and elevations and we will see lots of cactus species from Stetsonia to Rhypsalis, Lobivia to Oreocereus. If you haven't been to Bolivia, this is a great opportunity to see one of the world's best kept secrets. The tour will start in Santa Cruz and go into the Chaco desert, Tarija, Tupiza, Potosi, Sucre and Refugio Los Volcanes. 18 days total.

The ground agent and drivers are terrific -- knowledgeable, friendly, and English speaking.

Let me know if you're interested and I'll email you when I get the trip costs and dates nailed down.

Daiv might be posting some of my pics of Bolivia from trips in 05 and 07.

Thanks.

That is right! Greg emailed me a ton of simply amazing Habitat shots of all sorts of species. I will be posting them up on the guide soon and will be sure to point them out to everyone. He got some real surprise species.

As part of the Big Picture Project, I'm adding Greg's Bolivia cactus to the the site. Here are what are listed so far:

http://www.cactiguide.com/cactus/?genus ... herzogiana

http://www.cactiguide.com/cactus/?genus ... asiliensis

http://www.cactiguide.com/cactus/?genus ... ies=coryne

(I know that last picture is broken -I'll have to fix that.)
