Prickly Pear Pads are growing/curling one way

Post by Mike727 »

I recently got a prickly pear cactus (a miniature one) to grow inside. It has been growing really well, however now the new pads seem to be curling All in one direction and I have no idea why.
(all the pads that are curing are the new ones that have grown)

Ive been watering the cactus once a week using the soak method.

It is kept at my window all day and has been receiving good sunlight.

My friend suggested it may be do to having too much sunlight but idk if I believe that

Any advice would help!

I would guess this might be a Brasilopuntia brasiliensis - and in that case it's supposed to have rather thin pads that can be a bit floppy

Teo is correct, an Opuntia Argentinian. They grow thin pads with nice sharp spines.
