Original Description: The Cactaceae 4 p.269 - Britton & Rose (1920)
About 3 meters high with few slender, elongated branches, these 3 to 4 cm in diameter; ribs about 7, obtuse; tubercles about 1.5 cm apart, circular, long-woolly as well as spiny; flowering areoles not much more woolly than the others; spines numerous, acicular, longer ones 3 to 4 cm long; flowers borne near ends of branches, about 5 cm long; fruit somewhat depressed, about 3 cm broad; seed shinning, black, 1.5 to 2 mm broad.
