Species Notes: Dave Ferguson regarding the two images of plants from the Desert Botanical Gardens:
The accession data for this particular O. cacanapa specimen has it as having been collected from the base of the Hualapai Mountians by Wendy Hodgson in 1980; however, there is absolutely no way that is correct (unless it was a garden plant there east of Kingman where collected). This specimen is a classic example of O. cacanapa, and if field collected, it had to have come from southern Texas or the northeast corner of Mexico; however, the species is not rare in, southern Texas, southern Arizona and southern New Mexico gardens as well
