All Cacti are succulents, but not all succulents are Cacti
This plant came from Cactus Corral many years ago and was simply called "Trichocereus peruvianus." Often this plant gets called T. pachanoi, but it is quite different than the standard T. pachanoi in collections.
I got normal and monstrose forms, this is the monstrose form and due to the need to distinguish it from the mess that is T. peruvianus I added the name "Short Spined," so this is the monstrose form of the short spined T. peruvianus.

The extremely rare and interesting monster cactus of the Sonoran desert --Lumenessum Belua.
franj has surely seen this one in habitat and can supply field study information
Failing that, follow this link for another view and the full story of this unusual monster.

I'm not sure if my photo assistant is in awe of the stick lizzard and monsters, or just mad at me for making him sit out in the midday sun while I play with the camera

Who does not collect monstrose, crested or varigated cacti but does save them for friends that do!!

I do not have any personal mostrose cactus per se, but I took a digital image of one growing in the wild during one of our local excursions. May I present: Echinocereus chloranthus.
