Always fun to look at your pictures, especially during this time of year. Weather speaking, the last 6 weeks were really bad on this side of the world, way colder than usual weather and no sun. Already more than 1ft of snow on the ground ... it sucks.

It looks like you had a really nice fall in Cologne !

Have a good day and thanks for the nice pictures !

Thank you very much for your kind words!
This year we had the second warmest summer since the start of temperature measurement in Germany.
AND we had the warmest autumn ever since.
The weather is wonderful for cactus friends and their plants.
But nature suffers terribly.
60% of our trees are damaged by drought.
The rivers have hardly any water, the fish die or have no offspring.

But thank God we have no climate problem. . . :(

Best wishes

Good evening dear cacti-friends,

what we are experiencing in the last two weeks is an ugly autumn - windy, cold, humid, dark.
Today I finally put all the plants, the last one´s in the greenhouses.
The terrace is not cleaned up yet and the greenhouses are not yet prepared for a deep frost.
But before January there is seldom frost - and right now the devil is in business. (Is that correct for hellish a lot of work?)
Today some pictures from inside and tidy up.
Not as beautiful and glamorous as flowers in summer. . .

I have been looking at your photos repeadedly for the last year. What can I say that hasn't been said already?Yours is the biggest plant collection that I have ever seen. They all seem so healthy and well cared of, it is a pleasure to look at each page of this thread.Vast variety and some really old speciments.I really love the mesembs, so beautiful when blooming.I must say that I have bought many new plants after seeing them here, but there are a lot more on my wish list. Some of my favourites are the Pelecyphora aselliformis(I can't find any here, maybe from Ebay), the big flower Mammillarias(that theresae I find only grafted),the Ariocarpus(I have very young plants) and many others.Thank you for posting these beauties!

PS. I visited Coln a few years ago.I have an aunt that has been living there for 60 years. It's a beautiful town.We went to the bridge for photos,it was so windy! We visited many of the churches, they were exceptional.

Thank you for your kind words!
A plant collection is never really good - always on the move.

For 50 years, the cacti and other succulents have made me very, very happy;
nice that you can see and empathize with the fun that I have.

If you visit your aunt again, visit me.

In which state do you live, does it belong to Europe? If so, it is not difficult to get plants.

I wish you a lot of fun with our wonderful hobby!

Best wishes

Thank you for the invite, it would be a dreamy visit in your heaven on Earth!
Yes, I live in a EU country. Most nurseries here only sell the usual cactus. I find most of the cactus I want in other countries like the Czech republic, Italy and Germany. Lately I have bought some from Ebay.

Nero Wolfe!

Good evening dear cacti friends,
when I got my first cactus in 1968 - an Euphorbia hybrid   - my passion for cacti and other succulents began.
I got this euphorbia and some other plants from an elderly lady, she was a wonderful gardener =D> .
I learned a lot from her about gardening, plant care and the soul and nature of plants.

This passion has accompanied me throughout my life.

School, university, service, family, friends, my wife, other hobby's, house, traveling, cooking, our animals never came too short anyway.

So why, a life offers many possibilities and 24h a day!

If necessary, there was also help with the care of the plants. . .

When I already had some plants in 1970 I was dreaming of a greenhouse.
My sister gave me the first Nero Wolfe book by Rex Stout.
Nero was like I wanted to be, I was a kid !!! :) , intelligent, well-read, sharp-tongued, loving good food and
he had greenhouses for his plants on the roof of his house.
That was awesome, working downstairs and doing the hobby on the roof.

OK, it took a few years -

- but I did it. (and now I have Nero´s suit size too  )

When you were a kid you wanted to have greenhouses for plants just like your hero, Nero Wolfe.

Now, kids like me (I still consider myself a kid even at 30 years old haha) read your posts and look at your pictures and wish that one day we will have a collection just like our cacti hero, K.W. !

Take care !
