Again, I'll kick of the contest with my entry. Here is one of my favorite cactus pictures of all time. This is a wild Ferocactus wislizeni from Saguaro National Park (East Unit). If you want to see the whole plant look here: http://www.cactiguide.com/cactus/?genus ... =wislizeni

And here is my entry:

Hi!
I haven't posted any 'contest' pictures yet, I really didn't have anyt that was relevant to the theme at the time, but I do now with the fruit one.

I hope I put this in the right place.
Anyway, I STILL don't know the name of the cactus, although it has been with me for several years and bloomed and set fruits last year; it has bloomed many years now but has never set fruits...this was a surprise!
This is a photo of one of the fruits bursting. I managed to get several hundred seeds out of all the fruits.
I don't know if this will get any votes, I just wanted to share this.(again!) -Sayward

This one is a tough decision. Sooo many neat cacti fruit. Pereskia are otherworldly as are most epiphyllium. Cleistocactus are like satin christmas tree balls. Then there is the fruit making champion of all cacti - Opuntia fulgida. Where to start!!

Since we already have plenty of Opuntia represented, I'll try to even up the choices a bit and join Daiv with a Fero.

F. reppenhagenii - for those that don't recoginize the distinctive fruit.

I do not have anything special this time around, because I have never really concentrated on the fruit of a cactus. I am a "flower man". However, I photographed one huge cactus fruit that is edible and called dragonfruit (Hylocereus undatus).
