I find this a somewhat arbitrary and un-warranted decision and can, after thorough reading of the rules, find no grounds for this action !!!

To think that you would deprive the members of the opportunity of voting for the rarest and least known of the Monster Cactus? :)

I have considered notifying the O'odham nation requarding the possabilty that they may view this action as racial or religious bias

I'm expect that you will be completely buried in negative comments for this action!! [-X

Cheers, GeneS

I agree with Dominique!

Hope you two can reconcile your hard feelings. I guess we need a new category Daiv.

Daiv, I have a question about your entry, the Pachycereus schottii. What happened to it, and does it still grow?

Mine is just one of many cuttings of this that is pretty popular. Here you can see a whole bunch of stock plants at Grigsby Cactus Gardens:

It is still growing alright -it is just a monstrose form.

[/b]I have to go with the one "cactus" that appears to have mutated after living a few years as a "normal" cactus. Luis in Mexico might have been watering this one with beer to get this effect. 100 bottles of beer on the wall, 100 bottles of beer, you take one down..............CactiJoe

Thanks for the votes. Crested and monstrose plants are a real interest for me.

Yes, the polls are officially closed on this contest. Buck is our winner! A striking plant indeed. Second place went to Carl for his yet unidentified crest. Third to Franj for an Ariocarpus. This plant may not have taken first based on the photo, but the plant itself certainly deserves recognition for it's rarity and difficulty to grow. -Well done all!

We won't comment on Gene's entry... ha ha! :P

Going forward -we have lots and lots of topics to choose from. We'll just keep picking new ones each week. If you've got one in the suggestion box, don't worry -we'll get there sooner or later! For the next one -get ready. We'll take Harry's suggestion of Cacti with Animals -can be bugs, pets, gorilla's -anything classified in the animal kingdom.

I haven't yet been able to organize a succulent contest for the succulent section, but that will come eventually. For now, let's be sure our Animal posts are still cacti!
