Here's my entry -- Eriosyce senilis at the end of Winter 2012:
Sorta gets you in the mood for Spring, doesn't it?

Our winter has so far been a bit chillier than usual this year but my Aloinopsis schooneesii is as happy as can be! This was taken just before Christmas.

Mammillaria hahniana, being outside hasn't stopped it from flowering.

In my neighborhood, Winter means lots of Aloes in flower. Here is a 2 Dec view outside my patio door.

An Opuntia, in already melting snow, outside.

Last picture of my cacti in previous year:

Cacti through a thin sheet of ice.

Not so much ice and snow here. But more the visual retreat from the winter cold and lack of moisture by pulling itself into the ground (half loam half rough sand) for hiding and leaving an indication of how big the plant was when it was watered for the last time last autumn.

Astrophytum asterias, sown 2011:

I thought the silhouette of my blooming Turbinicarpus schmiedickeanus ssp schmiedickeanus against the bleakness of a cold, snowy yard made an interesting contrast.

Definitely wrinkly, but not dehydrated. I just noticed today that this Dioscorea is started to grow.
