Not macro but a quick and close look at something that caught my eye in the greenhouse ... just lurking there in the late afternoon light.
Micranthocereus flaviflorus ssp. densiflorus - seed ex CSSA seed bank as HU221 (flowering out of season and, from the back edges of the cephalium?)

As close as I can get without dedicated macro lenses, from earlier tests it's near 2:1 magnification.
O. microdasys rufida areole up close without crop.
Just a same the DOF is so shallow that only part of the glochnids ended up in focus and it's darn hard to light properly without a flash.
Astro Onzuka. Always click pic for better viewing..
