Trichocereus identification

Post by Sankhara »

Dear cactus enthusiasts,,

I know that there is a lot of posts on trichocereus identification but even after reading them I have doubts on my plants.

I've grown this one from seed as a lot of other ones, buyed as a trichocereus pachanoi, but I realized that they aren't pachanoi. However, the have the blue color, brown and large spikes and looks to me as a trichicereus Peruvianus. I have a picture to illustrate.

Hope you can help me with this one.

Can I be shure on the correct label?

Thanks

Just to throw a spanner in the works is it a trichocereus bridgesii?
And as the walls come down and as I look in your eyes
My fear begins to fade recalling all of the times
I have died and will die.
It's all right.
I dont mind
I dont mind.
I DONT MIND

Could it be Polaskia chichipe? Looks very similar to my plant. Is this plant popping arms from down at the base?

I don't think it is a trichocereus bridgesii. The spikes are not the same as I also searched with google images. I will take some pictures of a more mature and brother of this one plant and post here. Many thanks for the feedback

Yes, not a T. bridgesii. I'd tentatively go with T. peruvianus or T. macrogonus.

Yes, it looks more a macrogonus. I was checking pics on google, and is quite similar. What do you think?

With these, they can vary in characteristics from the same clone grown in different environments. It can be quite hard to narrow down between macrogonus and peruvianus, and some hold the opinion they are the same species.

You're right. Despite the fact I'm not completely shure, I'm now glad to be near the correct identification. One thing I know for shure, when I find a good cactus nursery, professional and serious one, I will stick to them. I hate mislabeled cactus, however I love cactus :)
