Hello All,

Post by Prism1234 »

Hello friends,

I am a gardener at heart and I grow everything from veggies and flowers, to fungi and Cacti. I have a cutting that a friend gifted me and I plan on buying some cacti from seed and starting a variety of species soon. I hope to learn much from the group and maybe add some info of my own.

Thanks,

Priz

Welcome!

Like most obsessions the first taste is usually free, just as in your case! After that, watch out!

Hello Priz,
I also want to welcome you to the cactus forum. I do hope, that you will benefit from logging on to this site every once in a while.
You write that you grow fungi - I assume the edible kinds like shitake, etc..
My job entails identifying microscopic fungi that are plant parasites.
Once again, I hope that you will enjoy yourself on this forum.

Hi everyone and thanks for the warm welcome!!

My garden is in lower Central Michigan and I have some pics for you to peruse.

I really hope to grow some beautiful species from seed and that will be my goal here. I started these cacti seeds about a year ago. I fell in love with the lil buggers and now I want some aesthetically beautiful species to ad to my collection

hegar,

I have grown shitakes and oysters so far and I love it. I will be attempting more species in the future. (reishi, Maitake)

enjoy!

Growing from seed? That is definitely more of a challenge, but looks like you're off to a good start!

Yeah, I started a bunch of seeds last year, and I have a cutting or 2 from some nice friends. I am planning on expanding my collection a bit through cuttings etc. If anyone would like to trade I have some stuff to offer...

Out of curiousity, are you planning on a potted collection or are you going to try growing some in the ground.
What zone are you in :?:

Hi there,

I am doing an indoor Potted garden. It gets way too cold where I live to plant in the ground. :)

Welcome! You'll be interested to know that many midwest growers have an outdoor cactus garden as well as indoor potted plants. Bill will fill you in. :-)

I'll be giving away a bunch of seed later in the summer and there are sometimes posts on the plant swap section to check out.

have fun!
