Congratulations Harold and Buck! :occasion7:
Both of your pictures were so much better than mine that I had to resist voting for myself!

Mazal tov Harald and Buck! Beautiful photos! I really enjoyed this contest. Harald, you really caught the colors on the Fero! Buck, I don't know see whats wrong with voting for your own picture if you think it is good - plenty of other people thought yours was winner material.

Congrats Harald, good job and nice pic. A well grown Ferocactus is always an eyecatcher.

A deserving win Harald, and a close runner-up to Buck. I would happily hang either, but, in my mind Fero spines always rule!!

Cheers ... GeneS

Thank you, guys and gals!
That cactus is the one that has repeatedly flowered, sometimes starting in November and other times later in the year. I always placed a five-gallon bucket over it whenever the night time temperatures were expected to go into the freezing range. However, last year in early December I had to go to Germany, because my father had passed away. During my absence the plant was left unattended and got hit by frost several times. Of course the blossoms did not make it. The cactus also does not look as good anymore, but I believe it will continue to live.
The picture was taken on a cloudy day in November of last year, after we did have some rain. I did notice the beautiful spine coloration of the plant and decided to snap a few pictures.
Once again, thank you for voting for my entry. Although only 33 people participated, I still feel honored to be included on the winner's page.
