Lophophora williamsii f. jourdaniana

Common Name(s):
Synonym(s): Echinocactus williamsii, Lophophora lewinii, Lophophora echinata, Lophophora lutea, Lophophora fricii, Lophophora jourdaniana
To view publication details for this taxon and related synonyms Click Here.

Subfamily: Cactoideae
Tribe: Cacteae
Distribution: Unknown
Habit: Globose-Flattened
Flower: PinkEncounterability: Unusual in Collections
Species Notes: This is a somewhat controversial "form" or "variety" of Lophophora. There is no known population in the wild that resembles the plants in cultivation although, they were originally collected from the wild and hence are not of "greenhouse" origin. It is reportedly not self-fertile as are the "other" L. williamsii forms. Additionally, jourdaniana does not cross with other Lophophoras. Dark pink flowers and the presence of small spines are what make this "form" distinct.
